Wood flooring sales grows by 4% in China

According to the Special Floor Committee, the wooden flooring sales grew by 4% in the Chinese territory, totalizing 396.8 million m² in the last year.

In total, sales of natural wood flooring increased by 10%, totalizing 43.9 million m²; the sales of composite wood floors increased by 9%, totalizing 104.5 million m²; and sales of laminated wood floors had had an increase of 2%, totalizing 210.5 million m² in the Chinese territory. However, the sales of bamboo floors has dropped 3%.

In recent years, the Chinese wood floor market expanded itself to the cities in the interior, no longer concentrating on the major cities. The producers realized that the market in the major cities was too competitive, so they decided to invest in new areas.

The wooden flooring market is on the rise in China, but analysts point to the fact that the number of medium and large companies is relatively small compared to small businesses, accounting for 90% of sales last year.
